Google expands AI Overviews to 200+ countries and 40+ languages

Google announced a broad rollout of AI Overviews in Search, now live across 200+ countries and territories and in more than 40 languages. The feature summarizes answers and surfaces prominent web links when Google’s systems determine an overview will be most helpful. Early usage signals are positive, according to Google: in major markets like the U.S. and India, queries that trigger AI Overviews have led to an increase of over 10% in Google usage for those query types, with engagement growing over time. Google also highlighted speed, calling AI Overviews “the fastest AI responses in the industry.” Google says a custom version of its Gemini 2.5 model is being brought to U.S. AI Overviews to handle harder questions. Newly supported languages include Arabic, Chinese, Malay and Urdu, with wider availability to follow as Google continues advancing Search with AI.
